Self-care is a conscious and intentional effort to nurture your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It involves recognizing, understanding, and addressing your needs, rather than focusing solely on the needs of your child or spouse.
This can include a list of activities to improve your physical, emotional, and mental well-being in your journey of motherhood.
Motherhood can be fun—and also life-training. It’s full of so many happy moments, excitement, and, at the same time, lots of challenges. It can rob you of your privacy, your “you-time,” and most women tend to lose themselves while on this journey.
That is why, here at Mom Threads Blog, we are here to help you address self care and motherhood Tips for busy moms —creating a community of intentional mothers who grow while grooming their children.
While grooming your child, also take out time to rest, relax, and exercise. Learn to set boundaries and say no when necessary. Always try to reach out to friends and family—keep in touch and don’t hesitate to speak up. Find yourself a good support system.
From My Personal Experience…
As a mom, I know how hard it can be to even attend to yourself. If you’re not careful, you can end up completely losing yourself.
Initially, when I had my daughter, I was just so confused and disorganized. I could barely do anything for myself. It felt like I was just being a mom and a wife—and that was it.
It was a tough and challenging time for me. A very sad period. I felt alone. I had lots of arguments with my spouse—he felt I was being lazy or that I had lost the zeal to go after the things I once loved.
Sometimes, I’d be so exhausted that I didn’t even want to cuddle my child when she was crying. It was that bad.
But now, as a mom who has found her feet, I’m taking out time to communicate how I was able to get back to self-care and motherhood.
My Game-Changer Self-Care Tips
Some tips and routines can be daily, weekly, or monthly—depending on how busy you are, how much you have on your plate, and how tight your schedule is.
1. Create a morning routine.
Wake up 20 to 30 minutes before your child. Use this time to:
– Exercise for a few minutes (helps both your mental and physical health)
– Make a cup of tea or a smoothie and sip slowly
– Take a cold shower
– Make your bed
– Then start the day—head to the kitchen or your child
2. Try to read something new every day
Even if it’s just for 30 minutes, reading daily refreshes your mind and builds your inner strength.
3. Make time for yourself.
Visit a friend, go to the salon, see a movie, take a walk, or go window shopping for your next big buy.
4. Relax.
Listen to your favorite songs, chat with a friend, or do whatever activity helps you unwind. Your peace matters.
5. Stick to your schedule.
Following a routine helps ensure you’re not overwhelmed. It creates space for rest and balance.
6. Put the kids to bed early.
Make it a habit to send them to bed early so you can:
– Attend to chores
– Relax
– Do something engaging before bed
Avoid letting kids sleep too late during afternoon naps—it affects their bedtime.
7. Watch what you eat.
Avoid sugary drinks, alcohol, and high-cholesterol foods. Don’t eat late at night. Try to incorporate fasting; it helps keep you in check and can burn off mom-fat.
8. Work at your own pace.
Prioritize your chores so you can make time to rest. What you don’t finish today, you can always complete tomorrow. This way, you’ll have enough time to care for yourself and enjoy fun activities with your children—because being a mom is not just about chores, it’s also about bonding and making memories.
Bonus Tip
Is your shoe becoming tight and uncomfortable when you put it on, but you don’t have someone to give it to—or the budget for a new one just yet?
Here’s a trick: get a pair of socks or a small cloth and stuff it inside the shoe. Leave it for a day or two… and thank me later for the changes!
